Geotechnical Engineering

Our geotechnical engineering team is well recognised for having a strong track record in delivering reliable, pragmatic and cost effective geotechnical and subsea foundation solutions. Our experience extends across a wide spectrum of geoscience and geotechnical activities from planning and procuring onshore and offshore geotechnical and geophysical surveys to managing the design and installation of offshore foundations for major deep water developments.

Our lead geotechnical consultant, Paul Brunning, has over 30 years’ of design and operational experience with onshore and offshore construction in the Civil Engineering, Renewables and Oil and Gas industries in Europe, the Americas, Middle East, Asia and Australasia.

Paul has published over 25 geotechnical and pipeline related conference and journal papers on diverse subjects from impact damage to pipes from trawl gear, pipe-soil interaction, performance of foundations on carbonate seabeds, burial of pipelines and upheaval buckling. He has participated in the development and updating of industry codes of practice for marine geotechnical and geophysical surveys and sits on the ISSMGE technical committee for offshore geotechnics. He is regularly invited to speak at geoscience related seminars and events as well as participating in training courses organised by industry bodies such as the SUT.
